About Motor Brakes

Motor brakes are used in various material handling, marine and packaging applications and include various mounting styles such as NEMA C-Face, foot-mounted, servomotor, small gear motor and metric mount brakes.

How does an electric motor brake work?

Motor brakes are designed to work in conjunction with a motor to slow and stop motion on machines, conveyors, cranes and other material handling equipment. Stearns is the market-leader and primary supplier to all US motor manufacturers. We carry standard AC voltage and DC voltage motor brakes. 

Solenoid Actuated Brakes (SABs) can be mounted directly to an electric or foot mounted motor. Armature Actuated Brakes (AABs) are available in a variety of mounting options.
